On Tuesday, after struggling through a disappointing 6-11 season, the Tennessee Titans decided to fire Mike Vrabel as head coach.
Vrabel had been their head coach for six seasons, but despite the presence of a healthy Derrick Henry and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, he wasn’t able to make them competitive this season.
On the other hand, Vrabel had guided Tennessee to three playoff appearances, including an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III highlighted that success, including the fact that he won the Coach of the Year award in 2021, as to why Tennessee was wrong to fire him.
The Titans SHOULD NOT have fired Mike Vrabel. But you know that already. 6 seasons, 4 playoff appearances, AFC Championship game appearance and Coach of the Year. Whoever gets him is getting one of the best leaders of men in the NFL today.

The Titans weren’t expected to do much this season, and that is exactly what transpired.
They had a revolving door at the quarterback position, as Vrabel went with veteran Ryan Tannehill, second-year man Malik Willis, and rookie Will Levis at various times this season.
None of them were very particularly productive, which is a strong argument in favor of Vrabel.
Whether he deserved to be fired or not, he now becomes one of the hottest head coaching candidates in the league outside of Jim Harbaugh, who just led the University of Michigan to a victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship.
One team that has been linked to Vrabel is the New England Patriots, who may end up parting ways with Bill Belichick relatively soon.
Vrabel was a linebacker for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008, and he made both the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro First Team in 2007 while winning three world championships during his time there.
