Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was forced to leave Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens after suffering a knee injury, the team said.
Watt was stepped on by his teammate, Montravius Adams in the third quarter and stayed down on the ground in apparent discomfort. He walked off under his own power and eventually went to the locker room.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh believes Watt suffered a sprained MCL.
The 29-year-old entered Saturday’s game tied for the NFL lead in sacks before bringing down Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley twice to take sole possession of first in the league.
He now has 19 sacks this season, and if he holds on to the lead, would be the NFL’s sack leader for the third time in his career.
Since the Steelers won, they need some help on the out-of-town scoreboard to keep their post-season hopes alive. Either a Buffalo Bills or Jacksonville Jaguars loss would put Pittsburgh in the playoffs.
