The Arizona Diamondbacks, against all odds, made it to the World Series in 2023.
They fell to the Texas Rangers there, and some of their roster flaws became evident.
Like the modern organization they are, the D-Backs took notes and saw the offseason as an opportunity to fill those holes and improve their roster to give themselves another shot at the title.
They needed another arm in the rotation to complement Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Brandon Pfaadt, so they went out and signed Eduardo Rodriguez.
Their lineup also needed some more thump, so they traded for Eugenio Suarez and re-signed Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Now, they are also making two depth additions: infielder Kevin Newman and catcher Tucker Barnhart.

Rookie sensation Gabriel Moreno has a strong hold of the starting job at catcher, but the Diamondbacks need a backup.
Barnhart, who played last season with the Chicago Cubs and hit .202 in 123 plate appearances, has a good chance of securing that reserve catcher gig.
He signed a minor league deal, but with an invitation to spring training.
With his experience and impressive defensive abilities behind the plate, he makes for a solid backup at one of baseball’s most important positions.
As for Newman, he is also joining the reigning National League champions on a minor league deal with an invitation to camp.
He has a good shot at securing the utility infield role.
If that’s the case, he would provide solid depth behind young stars Jordan Lawlar and Geraldo Perdomo.
Newman has a career .662 OPS and can defend shortstop, second, and third base.
