This NFL season has been one for the ages.
For the first time in a long time, it seems like the big prize is up for grabs to anyone, and even though the Baltimore Ravens have been the best team in the league, we’ve seen them crumble in the playoffs way too many times already.
But more than that, it seems like it’s the first time in plenty of years that multiple teams still have a chance to clinch a postseason berth in the final week of the season.
With that in mind, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that Week 18 is going to be historical, as 20 teams are still in contention for a trip to the Super Bowl, tying for the most with one week left in the season in the last 41 years.
A historic Week 18 ahead for the NFL:
20 teams are still in contention for a trip to the Super Bowl, which ties for the most with one week remaining in the last 41 years, since a record 22 in 1982.

Of course, some teams obviously have a bigger chance to get to the big game, with the Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and even Miami Dolphins looking like the strongest candidates right now.
But plenty of teams could still punch their ticket to the postseason in the final play of the campaign, and anything can happen in a win-or-go-home scenario.
Teams like the Cleveland Browns have proven to be much better than expected, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see at least one team pull off several upsets on their way to the Super Bowl, and that’s why this is the most exciting league on Earth.
