It’s hard to find any silver lining for the season if you’re a Detroit Pistons fan.
Perhaps not even securing a top-3 pick will be enough to make them feel right about what is going on with their team right now.
Nonetheless, if there’s anything even slightly good about this rough stretch, it is that it has allowed Cade Cunningham to take over and showcase his talents.
The former No. 1 pick has turned things around after a slow start to the season and is filling up the stat sheet night in and night out.
As a matter of fact, Basketball Forever and Legion Hoops report that he’s made history during his last five-game stretch, becoming the only player to average 33.0 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game on 57% from the floor without recording a single win.
Cade Cunningham is the ONLY player in NBA history to average these numbers over 5 games without recording a single win:
33.0 PPG
7.4 APG
5.8 RPG
57% FGGotta feel for him man 😕 (h/t @bballforever_) pic.twitter.com/i5fUX9fYRa

In all honesty, chances are that Cunningham would trade all that for a win any day of the week, but it’s not like that’s been on him.
The Pistons are young and have been sloppy at times, but they’re playing their hearts out on the floor every single night, especially Cade.
It’s gotten sad to see how they’ve failed to close games out, but the Oklahoma State product has hit clutch shot after clutch shot, and he’s blossoming as a star right in front of us.
Unfortunately, even if his numbers seem All-NBA worthy, his chances of making an All-Star team when his team has lost 28 consecutive games are not good.
