The Chicago White Sox are a team we have not heard much from so far this offseason.
Coming off a brutal season, the White Sox are hoping to find themselves back in AL Central contention.
That is one of the worst divisions in baseball, and it will not take much for them to be back in the race.
Everything that could have gone wrong for the White Sox last year did go wrong.
They suffered a plethora of injuries, and many of their players failed to reach their potential.
Some could even say the White Sox lack leadership amongst their players.
Well, it appears they are trying to address that by bringing in a veteran in free agency.
According to Mark Feinsand, Martin Maldonado agreed to a one-year deal with the White Sox.
The deal is worth $4 million and there is a $4 million vesting option for the 2025 season.

Maldonado is a good defensive catcher with plenty of experience playing on winning teams.
He spent the past four full seasons with the Houston Astros.
He was a member of their World Series-winning team in 2022.
Maldonado is not a good offensive player.
Also, he is entering his age-37 season next year.
This move is simply for veteran leadership and some occasional starts throughout the year.
If the White Sox are serious about competing they should be willing to spend more money.
Their roster needs plenty of work and spending money in free agency may be the only way to fix it.
