Winners win, and Stephen A. Smith is a big winner.
He’s worked his way up and climbed the ladder of the sports and entertainment industry, and he’s perhaps the most powerful on-air talent on ESPN right now.
That’s why he’s not so used to coming in second place, let alone paying his dues when that happens.
With that in mind, First Take co-host Molly Qerim stated that her New Year’s resolution would be to stop making bets with Stephen A., as he just refuses to pay her back whenever he loses, which, according to Qerim, happens quite often.

Stephen A. couldn’t help but crack up when the camera pointed right at him, to which Qerim demanded to get all the attention back to herself because it was her moment.
Ouch, there’s no way to come back from that.
Stephen A. Smith is obviously the most prominent figure on the set, and he decides who stays and who doesn’t, so he has to lead by example and honor his debts whenever he loses.
That’s what everybody should do, especially a boss.
He’s had his fair share of hot takes throughout the course of the years, and while he’s been right on point every now and then, he’s also dropped the ball way too many times in his predictions.
Then again, knowing Stephen A., you just know he’s not going to go down quietly, so chances are he’ll find a way to make things up to Molly.
Of course, while the cameras are rolling.
