After going through a brief hot streak in November, the Houston Texans have been sputtering lately, and with an 8-7 record, they’re hanging on for dear life in the AFC playoff race.
They’re in eighth place in the conference and third place in the AFC South, yet they’re tied for the best record in their division with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts.
Houston has given up at least 30 points in both of their last two losses, and on Tuesday, they made a move by bringing in defensive back Kareem Jackson off waivers.
Per Aaron Wilson, Jackson sounds eager to get started with his new teammates.
Kareem Jackson: ‘Being a part of that organization, seeing DeMeco getting the job and all his success, just being happy for him. They’ve got a bunch of young talent there. I’m excited to get the sour taste out of my mouth with what’s been going on. It’s been a rough season for me…

Jackson, a first-round draft pick in 2010, spent his first nine seasons with the Texans and made five trips to the playoffs with them during that time.
He had been with the Denver Broncos since the 2019 campaign before they decided to waive him.
Jackson has been suspended twice this year for what the NFL deemed unnecessary roughness violations, but he sounds eager to be coached by DeMeco Ryans, who was a teammate of his during his first stint in Houston.
In eight games this season, he has two interceptions, three passes defended, and 51 tackles (36 solo).
The Texans have a very winnable game against the Tennessee Titans, who are currently 5-10, on Sunday, but they will close out the regular season on the road against the Colts in a game that could very well decide who wins the AFC South.
Because the division is so weak, record-wise, winning it seems to be a requirement right now to make the playoffs for the Texans.
