Ron Dermer, a senior adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had talks Tuesday at the White House with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, President Biden’s national security adviser. They discussed “the transition to a different phase of the war to maximize focus on high-value Hamas targets” as well as “governance and security in Gaza” after the war, according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Israel has resisted international pressure to scale back its military campaign in Gaza, with Netanyahu on Monday saying the war “isn’t close to finished” and that Israel would be “expanding the fight in the coming days.”
