The Dallas Mavericks missed the playoffs last season despite adding Kyrie Irving to the roster via a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

Keeping that in mind, many expected the Mavericks to play with a chip on their shoulder during the 2023-24 NBA season, and they have proved those people right.

The Mavericks recently faced off against the Phoenix Suns during the regular season and registered yet another victory.

It was none other than Luka Doncic who dominated the game with his insane scoring ability.

So much so that Kevin Durant didn’t hesitate to praise the European superstar, via Duane Rankin on Twitter.

“He does this every game. He controls the whole game,” Durant said of Doncic.

Durant is usually considered the best scorer of this generation, as he has been scoring at will throughout his NBA career.

Keeping that in mind, it’s certainly a great compliment to receive for Doncic.

Speaking of Doncic’s performance, he had 50 points, 6 rebounds, and 15 assists for the Mavericks.

Doncic’s performance included an 8-of-16 shooting night from the three-point line.

Moreover, he also shot a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Thanks to Doncic’s elite scoring performance, the Mavericks registered a stunning 128-114 win against the Suns.

Following the win, the Mavericks have now improved their record to 18-12 as they hold the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

As for Doncic, he is averaging a stunning 33.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game for the Mavericks this season.

Considering his current form in mind, the Mavericks are one of the favorites to make a deep run in the playoffs in the 2023-24 season.
