Coming into Week 16’s matchup on Christmas Eve, the Washington Commanders and New York Jets were expected to go through the motions, with both struggling franchises already being knocked out of playoff contention as they limp to the finish line.
Even though neither team had much to play for Sunday, a game still needed to be played, which can lead to some weird things happening on the football field, as it did during this game.
Despite the lack of motivation, the Jets came out firing on all cylinders in this game, with the team scoring 17 points in the first quarter, which hasn’t happened for the team since 2014.
With the Commanders trying to keep up with the uncharacteristically potent offense of the Jets, Sam Howell threw a pass to wide receiver Jamison Crowder, and somehow, the football slipped out of his hands after he had possession and went straight into the air, which rarely happens via Dov Kleiman.

Usually, when a player on offense loses the football, the ball goes to the ground with a mad scramble for the fumble but rarely does a fumble begin eight or nine feet in the air as it did with Crowder, which resulted in an unfortunate turnover for the Commanders.
Unfortunately for Washington, things only got worse from there heading to halftime, where the Jets are currently sporting a 27-7 lead over the lowly Commanders, who can’t seem to get anything going on the offensive side of the football today against the stout defense of New York.
