The Baltimore Ravens defense is having an elite season this year.
They’ve allowed the fewest points per game, sixth-fewest passing yards and 10th-fewest rushing yards this season.
Baltimore also ranks first in sacks with 50 this season, led by defensive tackle Justin Madubuike’s 12.
Madubuike’s season isn’t just huge for the Ravens, it’s also on the cusp of NFL record-setting.
He’s tallied at least half a sack in 11 consecutive games this season, which is tied for the longest single season streak in NFL history alongside the Cincinnati Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson (who did it in 2021) and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones (who did it in 2018).

Madubuike, 26, has registered at least half a sack in every game since Week 4.
If he gets another half sack in Week 16, Madubuike would break Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse’s 12-game sack streak that occurred over two seasons from 1999-2000.
Madubuike is in his fourth season with the Ravens since being drafted in the third round out of Texas A&M in 2020.
He has 20.5 career sacks and 46 quarterback hits in 56 games.
The Ravens as a whole have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL this season, and their defense has been a big reason why.
But this week they’ll face their toughest opponent in the NFC-leading San Francisco 49ers and their second-ranked scoring offense.
The 49ers offensive line is also strong and has allowed the third-fewest sacks this season – 26.
So if Madubuike wants the record, he’ll need to be on his A-game against the 49ers in Week 16.
