With the NFL playoffs right around the corner, the NFC seems to be a conference with only a handful of teams in contention to go the distance once the postseason gets underway in the coming weeks.
The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys have separated themselves from the pack, while the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles remain teams that could make a run in the playoffs.
However, the Los Angeles Rams have come on strong as of late, with Matthew Stafford and company winning five out of their last six games, including last night’s win over the New Orleans Saints.
Even though the 2023 campaign looked like a lost cause with six losses in their first nine games, the Rams are starting to figure things out, and it couldn’t come at a better time, as the team could make a run and become a threat in the NFC.
Following the win over the Saints on Thursday, Nick Wright of FOX Sports makes the case that the Rams might be the third-best team in the NFC ahead of the Lions and Eagles, via “First Things First.”
“Right now, this moment, the Rams have the 2nd best QB in the conference — 2nd only to Dak. If I was ranking NFC playoff contenders, the Rams would be 3rd — 1. 49ers 2. Cowboys 3. Rams.”

It seems a bit premature to put the Rams ahead of the Lions and Eagles, but Wright might have a point, with Stafford having playoff experience and a Super Bowl title to his credit with two of the best wideouts in the league right now in Cooper Kupp and rookie Puka Nacua.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in the NFC moving forward, as Stafford and company could make things interesting come playoff time.
