The Indianapolis Colts running back woes continued this week after the team won’t have one of its top backs against the Atlanta Falcons.
No, we’re not talking about Jonathan Taylor, who was a full participant in practice this week and carried no injury designation for the first time in three weeks since he underwent thumb surgery.
The Colts officially ruled out his backup, Zack Moss, who suffered a forearm injury this past week, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Moss had been the Colts’ starting running back during Taylor’s first absence to open the season and then again for the past three games Taylor missed with the thumb injury.
Moss rushed 177 times for 764 yards and five touchdowns this season.
When Moss went down this past week, Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson split carries to lead the Indianapolis backfield.
But with Moss out and Taylor back, Sermon and Goodson will likely revert back to reserve roles on the team.
Though Moss was a great replacement and backup running back, the Colts should still be in a good spot with Taylor starting once more.
Taylor remains one of the best running backs in the NFL, too, and will face a middle-of-the-pack run defense in Atlanta.
Even with a carousel of running backs this season, the Colts still have the 13th-best rushing unit in the NFL and the seventh-best rushing touchdown team.
Indianapolis is currently the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoffs with an 8-6 record, so a win this week would greatly help the team’s chances to make the postseason for the first time since 2020-21 and in the first year under new head coach Shane Steichen.
