The Chicago Bears have been one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams regarding their preseason expectations.
Many analysts expected this to be the year for the Bears to break out of their rut and Justin Fields to take a step forward.
While a few things have been out of their control, namely injuries, the Bears are effectively out of the playoff race.
Many of their players are seemingly already looking ahead to next season, including cornerback Jaylon Johnson.
Johnson recently spoke to the Associated Press, discussing what his free agency period could look like in the offseason.
According to Johnson via Around The NFL, he said: “I want to stay here.”

Even though the Bears haven’t had the season many expected, Johnson believes his time isn’t done with the organization.
He also said, “I definitely want to get something (done) here first.”
This mentality emphasizes that sometimes, it’s not about the money.
If players are loyal to an organization and fanbase, they want to see the team succeed rather than wanting to get the biggest possible check.
Of course, Johnson also recognized that the NFL is a business.
He added, “But at the end of the day, if something doesn’t get done, then I’m not opposed to any other options.”
If the Bears offer him a deal, it appears that Johnson will take it.
This team has a lot of decisions to make in the offseason, particularly decisions on the direction in which they want to move forward.
Their most significant decision is at the quarterback position and whether they stick with Fields, sign a free agent, or draft somebody.
That should determine how much additional capital they must spend on players like Johnson.
