After serving his 25-game suspension handed down by the NBA for his off-the-court antics during the offseason, superstar guard Ja Morant made a triumphant return to the basketball floor for the Memphis Grizzlies this week and did it in spectacular fashion.
Morant rejoined the Grizzlies after the team was only able to win six games in his absence and brought an entirely different energy to this team that was in desperate need of that kind of boost on the floor after a nightmarish start to the 2023-24 campaign.
The perennial All-Star played in 35 minutes in his return against the New Orleans Pelicans and showed no signs of rust, scoring 34 points to go along with eight assists and six rebounds and the game-winning shot.
After putting on an incredible show in his return, Morant soured things a bit after running to the locker room while screaming that he has “kept receipts” for what has been done to him, meaning he’s probably not entirely learned his lesson, as Elle Duncan pointed out on “Around the Horn.”
After his impressive return to the court, Ja Morant said he ‘kept receipts.’ @elleduncanESPN on his night:
“He’s got to understand that this story right now for him could be one of the best redemption stories of all time. But be clear, it is not an underdog story.” pic.twitter.com/BoAkMeHOzC

If Morant can get back on track and continue to play at a high level for the Grizzlies moving forward, he has a chance to be one of the best players in the league history and potentially bring a title(s) to Memphis while paving his way to the Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately, Morant doesn’t seem to be all that remorseful for the silly mistakes he’s made off the court, which could ultimately be his downfall and something everyone will be paying close attention to moving forward.
