Media and fans love to rank MLB players according to several statistical categories.
The offseason is usually a good time to do that, with the whole 2023 campaign worth of data to support the rankings.
The folks at B/R Walk-Off ranked the best power hitters in the league at the moment.
New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge understandably leads the ranking, followed by Atlanta Braves sluggers Matt Olson and Ronald Acuna Jr.
Shohei Ohtani and Corey Seager complete the top five; and Marcell Ozuna, Yordan Alvarez, Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber, and J.D. Martinez round out the top 10.
There is one notable omission from the list: New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso.
Mets fans, as a result, were not very happy, and their anger is understandable because Alonso belongs in the top five and quite likely in the top three.
The numbers don’t lie.
“Most HRs since 2019: 1. Pete Alonso (192) 2. Matt Olson (177) 3. Aaron Judge (174). How in the world is Pete left off this list?” Mets’d Up Podcast tweeted.

Alonso, since entering the league in 2019, has more home runs than anyone in baseball, and that’s including Judge’s 62-homer season in 2022.
Upon making his debut in 2019, the Mets slugger broke the record for most home runs by a rookie with 53.
If he is healthy, Alonso is a lock for 40 home runs.
He also has two Home Run Derby victories.
His batting average might not be the highest, but in sheer, raw power, no one has done what he has since 2019.
The fact he didn’t even make the list is shocking.
