During his prime years in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers, superstar quarterback Cam Newton was something else, as he showed some unique skills to be a threat with his legs as well as his arm.

Unfortunately for Newton, outside of the 2015 NFL season with the Panthers, where he won the NFL MVP and led Carolina to the Super Bowl, he didn’t exactly live up to all the hype and was never really considered a winner.

Like many athletes who depend a lot on their athleticism to make them the player that they are, Newton’s career headed into a downward spiral, quickly leading to teams eventually no longer showing interest in him at only 34 years old.

However, former NFL wide receiver turned analyst James Jones claims that Newton was a different kind of player and would be arguably better than some of the quarterbacks that the former NFL MVP recently called “game managers,” via “Speak” on FS1.

The real problem with Newton’s argument that Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott are “game managers” is the fact that the former Panthers superstar would’ve benefited from being a game manager himself or playing the way these four play on a weekly basis.

Newton could’ve extended his career or at least lived up to expectations rather than burning out much earlier than anyone anticipated because he couldn’t complete a pass while with the New England Patriots at the end of his playing career.

As long as they can stay healthy, Purdy, Tagovailoa, Goff, and Prescott will be winning games and around for quite some time, which is something Newton was unable to accomplish and now criticizes.
