The quarterback situation for the New York Jets has been a nightmare ever since superstar Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury during the team’s first offensive series of the season against the Buffalo Bills.
With Rodgers on the mend, the Jets have been forced to turn to Zach Wilson, who hasn’t played well consistently since the team drafted him No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Over the past week or so, things had gotten even worse for the Jets with talk of Wilson not wanting to be the team’s starting quarterback again after some failed experiments with backups like Tim Boyle.
Once the rumors of Wilson wanting to remain on the bench subsided, he put on a show against the Houston Texans on Sunday by having arguably one of the best games of his young NFL career.
Wilson was able to lead the team to a win over the Texans while playing some solid football for the Jets, which impressed head coach Robert Saleh, who sang his praises after the game.
“He made a lot of things happen that weren’t there…I thought he was outstanding today,” Saleh said.

During the 24-point blowout of a good Texans team led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, Wilson threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns and zero interceptions, but he did lose a fumble.
With Wilson looking good against the Texans, he’ll likely continue to be the starter moving forward unless Rodgers makes a miraculous comeback ahead of schedule.
The Jets have four games left on their regular-season schedule starting with the Miami Dolphins on the road next week followed by the Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots.
