The Cincinnati Bengals have endured a lot during the 2023 NFL season, but they were dealt with a gut punch when they lost Joe Burrow for the remainder of the year due to a wrist injury.
Burrow hurt his wrist in their loss to the Baltimore Ravens, adding even more insult to the injury given they lost to an AFC North rival.
The star quarterback was finding his rhythm after a slow start to the year, but this setback particularly hurts as the Bengals were making a run at one of the final Wild Card spots.
Without Burrow, Cincinnati is forced to trot out Jake Browning as their starter and he picked up a surprising win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.
However, the team did have to deal with an investigation as the NFL looked into whether or not they violated injury reporting news as it relates to Burrow’s wrist.
After a thorough look, the league announced they found no wrongdoing on their end in regards to Burrow’s injury via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The NFL has determined that the Bengals were in full compliance with league’s injury report policy when Joe Burrow suffered his season-ending wrist injury during a Thursday night game at Baltimore, as @jjones9 reported. After its investigation, the league said were no violations.

Teams are required to report any sort of injuries to players on their reports for the week, and it looks like Cincinnati did indeed do what was asked.
There were questions about Burrow’s wrist as he was seen flexing it throughout the night but things came to a head when he injured it on the field and couldn’t throw.
With this behind them, the Bengals can focus on trying to finish the season strong and look forward to having Burrow available in 2024.
