The Kansas City Chiefs look a lot different in the 2023 NFL season as they are winning games but not with their usual formula.
The Chiefs developed a reputation over the years for being an explosive offense led by Patrick Mahomes, but without any quality receivers outside of Travis Kelce the team has been winning games on the back of their defense.
For years, Kansas City’s defense was their Achilles heel, but defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has his unit playing at an elite level.
The defense has been stingy in just about every area of the field, a strange sight for fans that are used to watching the Chiefs simply blitz teams on the scoreboard.
However, the team has been dealing with injuries as of late as they recently placed starting safety Bryan Cook on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Fortunately, Kansas City is getting a key piece of their defense back as they’ve activated linebacker Nick Bolton off injured reserve ahead of their matchup against the Buffalo Bills via the team’s official Twitter account.

Bolton suffered a wrist injury in their Week 7 win against the Los Angeles Chargers, and underwent surgery.
Bolton’s presence in the middle of the field was sorely missed, though now he appears ready to resume his role as one of the unit’s leaders on the field.
The linebacker has only appeared in four games this season as he also dealt with an ankle injury earlier in the year, but still managed to be productive as he recorded 28 total tackles.
