The Utah Jazz have a lot of potential and promise but they don’t have a whole lot of wins so far in 2023-24.
The team has a 6-13 record and is the 13th-best team in the West.
With so many competitive teams in their conference, the Jazz might have a very hard time making the playoffs, even with a robust roster.
Jake Weinbach is reporting that the Jazz could make some modifications.
He said that Lauri Markkanen is an “interesting name to monitor on the trade market” and claimed that if the Jazz “continue to trend downward, there’s a chance that the organization sells high on key veterans to prioritize the long-term future.”
He noted that Markkanen could become a free agent in 2025 – will the Jazz move him before that?

He is the biggest trade asset the Jazz have, with an average of 23.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
His progression was one of the biggest stories last season and Markkanen not only earned his first All-Star appearance but also the 2023-24 Most Improved Player of the Year award.
The Jazz have been fun to watch over the last season but they haven’t found many victories and it could be time for a change.
The team is sitting on a few young up-and-coming stars as well as a bunch of great draft picks.
Because of that, there is a chance that the team will be very successful in the next few years, but perhaps the front office doesn’t want to wait until then.
Markkanen is the top-scorer for the Jazz which means they’d want something substantial in return for him.
The Jazz would not take this sort of move lightly.
