The Dallas Cowboys have fared better than expected this season, and most of that has had to do with Dak Prescott’s impressive QB play.
Following a modest start to the season, Dak has taken a major leap forward, playing like a top-five QB in today’s game.
Nonetheless, Jalen Hurts continues to lead the way as the main MVP candidate, according to most oddsmakers.
That’s why NFL analyst Seth Walder wanted to bring up the fact that Prescott has actually fared much better than Hurts this season, which is why he cannot understand why he’s not ahead of him in this race.
Walder revealed that Prescott currently has the second-best QBR in the league (75.3), whereas Hurts has a QBR of 63.5 (which is the sixth-best in the league) despite having a better offensive line and better receivers.
Dak Prescott has a QBR of 75.3 (2nd-best).
Jalen Hurts has a QBR of 63.5 (6th), with a better offensive line and better receivers.
What’s the case for Hurts besides #QBWinz as MVP right now? I don’t see it.

If you consider the fact that the QBR stat considers the strength of schedule, quality of opponent, and rushing touchdowns, then Walder has a valid point.
Wins aren’t a QB stat, yet it seems like Hurts gets the nod over Prescott because of his 10-1 record.
Choosing the best player on the best team in the league as the MVP is rather simple, and the game is often more complicated than that.
Perhaps Prescott shouldn’t be No. 1 in the MVP race, but these numbers prove that he should, at least, be ahead of Hurts.
Dak still has to get past the finish line, and the Cowboys schedule gets brutal down the stretch, so he’ll have plenty of chances to prove why he should be the primary candidate this season.
