Lately, amidst what has turned into yet another miserable season for the New York Jets, future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made noise about attempting a return from a torn Achilles.
He suffered that injury in early September on the Jets’ first offensive series of the season, and he has said he wants to return in mid-December, which would give him only about three months of rehab.
Many have questioned the wisdom of coming back so soon, but if he were to succeed and actually play well, it could be a medical marvel.
He was spotted at practice throwing a tight spiral as if he never left, per the Jets’ official Twitter account.

Fans are understandably skeptical that Rodgers will succeed in his return attempt.

When the Jets traded for Rodgers during the offseason, he was supposed to be the magic elixir for all the Jets’ struggles in recent years.
The organization hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2010 season, and it hasn’t had a truly high-quality quarterback since Joe Namath about half a century ago.
Instead, they have been the same hard-luck Jets everyone has gotten used to.
They do have ample talent on both sides of the football, especially on defense, which was actually a strength for them in 2022 when they went 7-10.
Although that defense has, at times, kept them in games this year, it has given up 32 and 34 points in New York’s last two games, and without an NFL-caliber quarterback, the team has been saddled with a 4-7 record so far.
Rodgers will turn 40 years of age on December 2.
