The San Antonio Spurs are going to be one of the toughest teams in the NBA a few years from now as they’ve got a generational talent in Victor Wembanyama to lead the way.
Wembanyama has delivered on the lofty expectations thrust upon him as he’s been a two-way menace in his rookie season.
The native Frenchman is growing more and more comfortable at the NBA level as he gets better every game and is learning how to dominate with his God-given talent and ability.
Although the Spurs sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, this year is about Wembanyama’s development and figuring out which pieces will work next to him for years to come.
San Antonio has lucked out with big men in the draft, and they’ve struck gold for the third time in franchise history.
Despite his status, though, Wembanyama recently sported a jersey with his last name misspelled and he expressed his disappointment via Tom Osborn of San Antonio Express-News.
“I don’t know if somebody got fired, but the Spurs did their job checking on my name. I don’t know. It’s a real shame,” Wembanyama said.

It’s a modest typo as the jersey spells “Wembanyana” instead of “Wembanyama” but the 2023 NBA Draft’s first overall pick has every right to be upset given that it’s his name.
The person who printed out the jerseys must feel embarrassed and were likely reprimanded for the mistake, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that Wembanyama was forced to play a game with his name incorrectly spelled.
