Reports: Avalanche’s MacKinnon goes for X-rays after game vs. Canucks

Colorado Avalanche star centre Nathan MacKinnon was sent for X-Rays following the team’s win against the Vancouver Canucks after he was injured blocking a shot in the third period, according to multiple reports.

MacKinnon appeared to be in discomfort after he blocked a Brock Boeser shot with his lower leg midway through the third period of a 5-2 win for Colorado.

MacKinnon did finish the game and assisted on Mikko Rantanen’s late goal.

The Halifax native has six goals and 17 assists in 18 games this season.

The 28-year-old MacKinnon is a six-time all-star and helped the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in 2022.

The Avalanche (12-6) are two points behind the Dallas Stars in the race for top spot in the Central Division.
