Jack Campbell records 30-save shutout for AHL Bakersfield

After losing his first three starts with the Bakersfield Condors, goaltender Jack Campbell stood tall and led his team to a 30-save shutout victory on Tuesday.

Campbell, 31, had allowed 4+ goals in each of his outings for the Condors since Nov. 9, recording a 0.818 save percentage across three games. On Tuesday night, however, Campbell managed to stifle the Henderson Silver Knights offence completely.

The Port Huron, Michigan native was placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 7 and was reassigned to AHL Bakersfield the next day after clearing.

“It was pretty tough, not going to lie,” he said shortly after being sent down. “I’m pretty tough on myself, I think that’s pretty well documented around the hockey world. Obviously, it’s a results league up there.”

The Oilers brought Campbell in during the 2022 offseason in their pursuit for a starting goaltender as Stuart Skinner continued to develop. In his first season, he had a 0.888 save percentage and across five appearances this season, he recorded a 0.873 save percentage and a 4.50 goals-against average.

The Condors remain ninth in the Pacific Division of the AHL, but improve their record to 5-6-0.
