Former NBA player and three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams recently made an admission about his time with the Los Angeles Clippers during the NBA bubble in Orlando that he will probably regret, especially if he thinks he’s getting consideration for the Basketball Hall of Fame.

More or less, Williams basically admitted that the Clippers quit during the NBA bubble because the team and its players didn’t think anyone would take an NBA title won in the bubble seriously.

The Clippers were the championship favorites heading into the NBA bubble, with the Los Angeles Lakers trailing behind them, but once the team started to hear all the noise from the fans and the media about the bubble championship being a joke, they took their foot off the gas during the playoffs.

This ultimately led to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets pulling off a remarkable comeback in the playoffs to beat the Clippers, who were thought to be the team to beat in the Western Conference.

Here are some of the fan reactions to Williams admitting that the Clippers essentially gave up in the NBA bubble because they thought people wouldn’t value the championship:

This is the kind of thing that Williams may look back on a few years from now and cringe at for making this admission, even if it is exactly what happened with the Clippers in the bubble.

Admitting a professional basketball team in the NBA quit while having a chance to win a title, especially considering the franchise had never won one before, is embarrassing, to say the least.
