Once Hall of Famer and former NFL superstar Deion Sanders decided to take the head coaching job at the University of Colorado, no one really knew what to expect, as there was a chance he’d be in his element and successful, or it would be an absolute disaster.
Nine games into his stint as head coach in Boulder, Colorado, Sanders has arguably exceeded expectations, even though his team has dropped off considerably from a hot start to the 2023 campaign, as the Buffaloes now sport a record of 4-5.
With Sanders having some success at the college level up to this point, some have wondered if he aspires to jump to coaching at the NFL level, which most successful college coaches do at some point in their careers.
However, even some of the best coaches in college football can’t make the transition to the NFL level and continue their level of success, with Nick Saban and Urban Meyer being perfect examples of that.
That said, Dan Patrick asked Sanders whether he has the goal of coaching in the NFL one day, and he gave a surprising answer on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
Deion Sanders says being an NFL Head Coach is not for him… Would that be different if it were a package deal with Shedeur and Shilo though? pic.twitter.com/vpGNvpsmPL

With this season being a roller-coaster ride for Colorado, Sanders is dealing with the ups and downs of coaching at a high level and obviously doesn’t want the added pressure that comes with coaching in the NFL.
It’s hard to blame him, with coaches at the next level having short life expectancies regarding how long they’ll last in their positions.
Even though Sanders has no intention to make the jump right now, that stance could easily change down the road.
