The New Orleans Pelicans have hit the ground running to start this season.

Winners of three of their first four games and with their only loss coming against the Golden State Warriors, this is an encouraging sign for Willie Green’s team.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of that has had to do with Zion Williamson’s presence.

The former No. 1 pick has been as dominant as usual, averaging 21.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game on over 50% from the floor thus far.

That’s why NBA analyst Monica McNutt believes he’s going to be a legitimate MVP candidate if he’s able to play 70+ games this season.

In her latest appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” McNutt raved about Williamson’s dominance in the paint, as well as his quick twitch and ability to take off to rule both ends of the glass.

She also believes this Pelicans team will give a lot to talk about, meaning Zion should, by all means, be on the MVP shortlist.

The Pelicans were able to come back from a 22-point deficit on Wednesday, taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder to seal the biggest comeback of this young season.

Needless to say, Zion’s talents have never been put in doubt, as he’s always been one of the best players in the league when healthy, not to mention one of the most impressive and entertaining to watch.

Then again, he’s played 24, 61, 0, and 29 games in four years in the league, so all that talk about him playing 70 games this season could be nothing but wishful thinking.
