Los Angeles Lakers fans were ruthless to Russell Westbrook.

L.A. media didn’t hesitate to throw him under the bus and blame him for everything that went wrong with Frank Vogel’s — and then Darvin Ham’s team.

And while the fit in Los Angeles was never good to begin with, he wasn’t the only one to blame for that.

That’s why Paul George urged the Los Angeles Clippers to give him another chance (via Joey Linn).

When asked about that, George stated that he knew all that narrative around Westbrook being washed and finished just wasn’t true.

George knew him pretty well from their time together with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he claimed that just by watching him, he knew he wasn’t comfortable within that offense and in that situation, so he knew he still had something left in him and was still the same star player he had always been.

That’s the kind of double-edged sword that comes with playing for a team like the Lakers.

It’s not just luxury and prestige; it also comes with unmatched scrutiny, casual fans, and ruthless takes from the media.

Needless to say, not all fans are like that, but the Lakers are always a major talking point around NBA circles, so they’re going to be on top of every single player night in and night out.

Fortunately for him, he’s found the joy of playing again, and it just feels like this will be the final stop in his long and successful career.
