The NFL trade deadline has now passed, and a number of teams have now made moves in order to augment their rosters.

Arguably the best deadline-day move was made by the San Francisco 49ers, who swapped a third-round draft pick in 2024 for Chase Young, a talented defensive lineman who was the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft.

The Niners are currently on a three-game losing streak and have lost some of their previous luster, but per CBS Sports Network, Adam Schein is convinced that they’re the best team in the NFC and that they’re positioned to reach the Super Bowl this winter.

Last season, San Francisco was the best defensive team in the NFL, but this season, some cracks have formed in their red and gold armor.

They have given up at least 400 yards in total offense in each of their last two games, and their secondary appears to be at least somewhat vulnerable.

But now, the Niners will have a simply savage front seven, at least on paper, with Young joining studs such as Javon Hargrave, middle linebacker Fred Warner, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa.

Lately, their pass rush has been missing in action, and the thinking is that Young will resurrect it.

He had 5.0 sacks, nine quarterback hits, and six tackles for loss in seven games this season, and he was a Pro Bowler and the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020.

Furthermore, Young played two seasons with Bosa while with the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
