The Arizona Diamondbacks are a team that has not let the moment get too big for them.

That could be because their manager knows what it feels like to be fighting for his job.

Things have not always been easy for Torey Lovullo during his time in Arizona.

He started as their manager back in 2017 when he took the Diamondbacks to the playoffs in his first year.

But they proceeded to get swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.

The five years after that were a struggle for Lovullo including a season where his team lost 110 games.

Yet, the Diamondbacks stuck by Lovullo with hopes he could get them where they wanted to go.

Now everything is paying off for the team this season.

According to Bill Shaikin, Lovullo expressed his gratitude towards the Diamondbacks for keeping him when things got tough.

He said: “I could have been fired on the spot after losing 110 games.”

Arizona is reaping the benefits of holding onto their manager.

He has the team playing great and now sits only three games away from winning the World Series.

It will be interesting to see if Lovullo can keep pushing all the right buttons.

Arizona is nowhere near the most talented team in baseball.

But they got hot at the right time.

If they can pull off this World Series win it would be one of the most unexpected in baseball history.

Lovullo deserves a lot of credit for how far his team has come.
