The season is about to start for the New Orleans Pelicans and, thankfully, their biggest star is set to return.

Shams Charania sat in on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday and was asked about the status of Pelicans superstar Zion Williamson.

“Zion is 100% ready to go,” Charania firmly said.

Charania was quick to add that the Pelicans are still suffering from other problems.

Jose Alvarado, Trey Murphy, and Naji Marshall are all listed as out for the start of the season.

The team just can’t get away from the injury bug that continually pops up on the roster.

Still, the triumphant return of Williamson is a cause for serious celebration.

We last saw the big man take to the court on January 2, 2023.

Following another foot injury, he sat out for the rest of the 2022-23 season.

Sadly, he took the Pelicans’ hopes of a playoff run with him.

Even though it wasn’t very long ago, some people forget that the Pelicans climbed to the top of the Western Conference standings last season before Williamson left.

Can they replicate that success?

Will the Pelicans push past the Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, and the rest of the crowded West?

It all depends on Williamson’s health and also how he fits within the team.

Charania urged fans to take note of how he works in the rotation.

Will he take on a “point forward” role like he did last season or will he be more of a traditional big man?

Before he got hurt last season, Williamson was playing perhaps the best basketball of his career.

Fans are very hopeful that he is ready to pick up where he left off.
