On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons scored a 16-13 win over Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to improve to 4-3 and take over first place in the NFC South, which had been held by the Buccaneers previously.
What made the victory more impressive was the fact that stud rookie running back Bijan Robinson had just one carry for three yards due to an illness.
However, the Falcons didn’t disclose the nature of his illness, and now, per Dov Kleiman, the NFL is going to look into the matter.
Report: The NFL will reach out to the #Falcons regarding their failure to disclose rookie RB Bijan Robinson’s illness prior to the #Buccaneers game, per Mike Florio.
Robinson said he was sick since Saturday night, so they could’ve told fans about his situation but chose not to.… https://t.co/yARgA9QbuE pic.twitter.com/XvJA4d1htr

All told, Robinson has largely lived up to the hype that surrounded him going into this year’s draft, as he has 404 rushing yards and a very strong 5.0 yards per carry, as well as 189 yards and two touchdowns in the air, so far this season.
He was the No. 8 pick in April’s draft after a sensational 2022 season at the University of Texas in which he put up 1,580 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.
Robinson has turned into arguably Atlanta’s biggest weapon on offense, and he has given the long-suffering franchise some real hope for the immediate future.
But Atlanta is a long way away from winning their first-ever Super Bowl.
At the top of their need list is a high-level quarterback — Desmond Ridder, their 24-year-old second-year starter, has thrown only six touchdown passes and six interceptions on the season, and he doesn’t seem on his way to a Pro Bowl appearance anytime soon.
But at least competing for a playoff spot this season would be a step forward for a Falcons team that hasn’t had a winning record since the 2017 campaign.
