The Las Vegas Raiders headed into Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of getting the best of the visiting New England Patriots, who have won one game all year.
With so many connections to the Patriots, Josh McDaniels and company were determined to get this win on Sunday in Las Vegas, as it means more than just another game, even if that’s what they say publicly.
Fortunately, the Raiders were able to do just that, with the team coming out with a four-point win on Sunday afternoon on their home field, but it may have come at a substantial cost for Las Vegas.
Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a back injury during the game and had to be taken to the hospital as a result, which is obviously not a great sign via Heidi Fang of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
I just saw Jimmy Garoppolo get into an ambulance and he’s being transported from the stadium now. Just happened to be walking in tunnels and saw him get in. #Raiders

Garoppolo is no stranger to injuries that have kept him out for a considerable time, as he has already missed a game this season with a concussion and almost missed a second game.
However, this injury seems to be a bit more serious, which could threaten to keep him out for more time, as back injuries can be tricky injuries.
If Garoppolo does miss time, it’ll be interesting to see who McDaniels goes with moving forward, as he had rookie Aidan O’Connell replace him earlier in the season and had veteran Brian Hoyer replace him today.
O’Connell made some mistakes but played well for a rookie and arguably gave the team the best chance to win, so he could have the edge if McDaniels didn’t like what he saw from Hoyer today.
