“Jim Jordan has some serious momentum in his quest to win the House speakership. It’s not a done deal yet – emphasis on yet – but the Ohio Republican got three big nods this morning that could help him move toward 217 yes votes on the House floor,” Punchbowl News reports.
“Three notable GOP holdouts – Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers of Alabama, Rep. Ken Calvert of California and Missouri Rep. Ann Wagner – flipped and will now support Jordan’s candidacy in a floor vote Tuesday.”
“Wagner, a close ally of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, previously said she would never back Jordan. But that changed after she and Jordan spoke ‘at length’ today.”
Playbook: “A Jim Jordan speakership is suddenly looking closer to reality this afternoon, after several of his top opponents in the House GOP executed a rapid 180 and announced their support for the Ohio Republican.”
