The Denver Nuggets were the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last season.

Keeping that in mind, it shouldn’t have surprised fans that the Nuggets won the 2023 NBA championship.

While winning the NBA title was the ultimate goal for the Nuggets, it seems as if they enjoyed sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Finals more than actually becoming the champions of the league.

Former Lakers guard and current member of the Nuggets Kentavious Caldwell-Pope shared his thoughts on defeating the Lakers via SiriusXM NBA Radio on Twitter.

“We had to give them that butt whipping,” Caldwell-Pope said.

Caldwell-Pope was a part of the Lakers during the 2019-20 NBA season.

The Lakers ended up winning the NBA championship that season, and they defeated the Nuggets in the 2020 Western Conference Finals.

A couple of years later, Caldwell-Pope once again became an NBA champion, but this time as a member of the Nuggets.

Moreover, it seems like Caldwell-Pope thoroughly enjoyed defeating his former team as he believed that the Lakers deserved to lose the series.

Well, the Purple and Gold have improved a lot over the offseason and are now expected to be one of the favorites to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy this season.

If the Lakers face off against the Nuggets during the playoffs, it will be a phenomenal series and could be the ultimate series between the two teams.

Regardless of which teams come out on the top, NBA fans will certainly tune in to watch the potential Western Conference Finals matchup in the 2024 playoffs.
