The Dallas Cowboys headed into Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of making a statement against arguably the best all-around team in the league and longtime rival, the San Francisco 49ers.
The epic showdown between these two storied franchises was expected to be the most entertaining game of the week, as these teams were thought to be evenly matched, with both teams having a lot of talent on both sides of the football.
Unfortunately for Dallas, Week 5’s performance against the 49ers was forgettable, to say the least, with the Cowboys struggling from start to finish against Brock Purdy’s squad.
San Francisco crushed Dallas at Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area, with the 49ers beating the Cowboys, 42-10.
In the aftermath of the blowout loss, Cowboys longtime owner Jerry Jones made an appearance on 105.3 The Fan and talked about the need for the football to be spread around a bit more via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan when asked if he wants to see Pro Bowl WR CeeDee Lamb get more opportunities: “I don’t know about that. What I want to see” is the ball spread around to several WRs/TEs

Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb caught four passes for 48 yards on Sunday, which obviously isn’t going to get the job done against the 49ers.
Dak Prescott had arguably one of the worst performances of his NFL career, as he threw three interceptions in the loss while only completing 14 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown.
The Cowboys were outplayed on both sides of the football in Week 5 and, as a result, may have been exposed for all their weaknesses, which could prove costly down the road if this team truly intends to contend this season.
