The Boston Celtics are looking like one of the strongest teams heading into the 2023-24 season.

Trading for Kristaps Porzingis was easily the biggest move made by the Celtics this offseason.

But apart from that, the C’s also acquired Jrue Holiday via trade from the Portland Trail Blazers.

While these moves were expected to make the Celtics a strong team, the organization also signed Payton Pritchard to a four-year, $30 million contract extension.

Prichard has been in sensational form since signing the new deal, and NBA analyst Marc D’Amico tweeted that not many are aware of his true potential.

He scored 26 points in the first NBA preseason game for the Celtics, proving the franchise made the right decision by extending his contract.

Following that game, Pritchard didn’t slow down in the Celtics’ second game against the New York Knicks.

He recorded 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists in the matchup.

It feels like the Celtics have found a solid player this preseason.

Sure, he may not get to play in the starting lineup during the regular season, but he can still contribute to the team as a solid support player off the bench.

Moreover, there’s no guarantee that the Celtics won’t shuffle the roster at some point during the regular season.

If Pritchard continues his fine form, coach Joe Mazzulla may reward him with a spot in the starting five.

Is Prichard the missing piece that could help the Celtics win their first NBA title since 2008?

The only way to find out is by watching the organization play during the regular season.
