Heading into Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers appear to be the cream of the crop in the league, with Brock Purdy and company sporting one of only two undefeated records (4-0) heading into their showdown with Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.

Perhaps the biggest question mark for the 49ers coming into this season was whether Purdy would be able to keep playing at a high level and leading this team to wins on a weekly basis, especially after coming off of offseason surgery.

Outside of the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, Purdy, who got hurt early in that game, has won every game that he’s been the starter for the 49ers thus far.

That’s a pretty impressive record, especially as a player dubbed Mr. Irrelevant in the 2022 NFL Draft and not being expected to do much of anything during his playing career in the league.

However, even though Purdy is the starting quarterback for arguably the best team in the league and is a household name now, he still has a roommate in San Francisco with whom he splits the rent every month, as he told USA Today via JPA Football.

There’s no question that San Francisco is a hard city to live in, considering the cost of living that has skyrocketed over the years, but it’s pretty wild to think a starting NFL quarterback still has to split the rent to make ends meet.

Obviously, Purdy could likely afford a place on his own, but he is taking the smart route here in order to preserve his earnings with the 49ers.
