During the NBA offseason, superstar guard James Harden made quite the spectacle out of himself by opting into the final year of his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, immediately requesting a trade, and then publicly bashing executive Daryl Morey.
Although there seemed to be some traction in trade talks with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer, which is Harden’s desired trade destination, those talks have ended, putting the player and the 76ers in an awkward situation with training camp getting underway this week.
All signs seemed to point to the 76ers trading Harden before things could get extremely awkward to start training camp, but that didn’t happen, leading to Harden showing up to camp on Wednesday in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Even though everyone anticipated some fireworks from Harden’s arrival in Colorado, that didn’t turn out to be the case, surprisingly enough.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski via NBA on ESPN, Harden’s first practice with the team came without any drama, which seems unbelievable at this point with how much damage he’s done.

Despite the lack of drama during the first practice in which Harden decided to make an appearance, that could quickly change tomorrow or in the days that follow, as the former NBA MVP still isn’t happy about his situation, and the team likely wants to move on as quickly as possible.
Only time will tell if something explosive happens in practice in the days ahead, as there’s bound to be a lot of tension between the players and the team’s front office.
