The first month of the 2023 NFL season is officially in the books, with only two undefeated teams in the league left standing.

The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, who played each other in the NFC Championship Game, are the only two teams in the NFL without a loss, and that comes as no surprise considering what they’ve been able to do on the football field.

Although the Eagles have played well over the first four games, no team in the NFL has played better on both sides of the football in the first month of the season than the 49ers, who look virtually unbeatable right now.

One of the team’s main reasons for its success on offense has been the play of star running back Christian McCaffrey, as he has dominated the competition on a weekly basis while coming off one of the best performances of his career against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.

During the blowout win over the Cardinals, McCaffrey racked up 177 all-purpose yards while scoring three rushing touchdowns and one receiving, which has thrust him into the NFL MVP conversation.

Former NFL star Richard Sherman described why McCaffrey should get serious consideration for MVP right now, via “Undisputed.”

For the last 10 years in a row, the NFL MVP award has gone to a quarterback, but this could easily be the year that changes, with a lot of superstar quarterbacks struggling this season.

McCaffrey might have the ideal situation to swoop in and be the favorite to be NFL MVP if he’s able to keep up this kind of production while staying healthy, which has always been his biggest problem.
