On Saturday, the Golden State Warriors will play host to the Los Angeles Lakers in what will be their first game of the NBA preseason, and with the exception of the injured Draymond Green (ankle), the storied franchise plans to have quite a stacked starting lineup ready to take on LeBron James and company.

It appears that the Warriors will see what it will be like to have veteran newcomer Chris Paul in the starting backcourt alongside Stephen Curry while moving Klay Thompson to the three spot.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the starters for the Warriors heading into their game against the Lakers on October 7 will be all veteran players and quite possibly what the team will run with to start the regular season while Green is injured, via Hoop Central.

The Warriors will be an interesting team to watch during the 2023-24 NBA season, with a lot of people writing them off after they fell apart in the NBA playoffs last year to the Lakers in the second round.

Although Curry is still very much in his prime and still arguably the best point guard in the game, Thompson doesn’t seem to be the same player on both ends of the floor, and Green has taken a step back offensively.

As for Paul, it is anyone’s guess if he can continue to play at a high level on yet another team in the West, but he seems up for the challenge, as he’s even ready to embrace a bench role if it comes to that in San Francisco.
