Against all odds, the New York Jets were quite close to pulling off a big upset over the Kansas City Chiefs.

They entered their home game as nine-point underdogs and weren’t expected to have a chance to win the game late, but that wasn’t the case.

The Chiefs hit the ground running with a 17-0 lead before their offense started clicking, with Zach Wilson having the best game of his career.

That’s why, following the loss, HC Robert Saleh stated that the Jets are going to win a lot of football games if Wilson continues that level of play, via ProFootballTalk.

“He was letting it rip. I thought he did a really, really nice job,” Saleh said. “I’m happy for him to go out and show that he does belong, that he can play in this league. If he plays that way we’re going to win a lot of football games.”

While that could sound like a bit of an overstatement, it actually might be right on point.

The Jets had a chance to beat the reigning Super Bowl champions until Wilson fumbled a snap and lost the football.

But he had moved the chains with ease, finally looking loose and with play-calling that suited his style of play.

Wilson completed 28 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns without any interceptions, and his body language was also way better than usual.

He didn’t look scared to make a mistake, and was finding his receivers in stride and helping them make plays.

The Jets have one of the best defenses in the game, especially when it comes to the passing game.

And with their interesting set of offensive playmakers, they could still salvage their season if their former No. 2 pick finally gets his groove and lives up to the expectations they had of him.
