After failing to get past the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals this past postseason, the Boston Celtics are hoping that they can get over the hump this year.

The Celtics made the decision to shake up their roster as they shipped out Marcus Smart and brought in Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis gives Boston another floor spacer and half-court shot-maker, though they’ll definitely miss Smart’s tenacious defense and playmaking.

Outside of Porzingis, the Celtics made a huge commitment to Jaylen Brown as they gave him a supermax extension worth over $300 million.

Brown’s gotten better each year he’s been in the league and blossomed into a two-way star that the Celtics are hoping can help lead them to the franchise’s 18th championship.

The Celtics haven’t won a title since the Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett days and the two were seen with Brown at the Colorado-USC game, via Pierce’s Twitter account.

It must be cool for Celtics fans to see two franchise legends hanging out with Brown who could someday see his jersey up in the rafters.

Pierce and Garnett were able to lead Boston to a championship in 2008 and several other playoff appearances before they were both traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

Brown could certainly learn a thing or two from the duo as they know what it’s like to be in his position chasing after a championship.

However, the Eastern Conference will only get more difficult to navigate as teams load up their rosters ahead of the playoffs.

Brown will be a large part of the Celtics’ title hopes and it’ll be interesting to see if he can deliver.
