The New York Yankees have always been an organization willing to spend money.
In the past offseason, the Yankees made a bold move by signing starting pitcher Carlos Rodon.
He was one of the best pitchers in baseball during the 2022 season.
Rodon finished sixth in the National League Cy Young voting and had a 2.88 ERA over 31 starts.
That is the player the Yankees hoped they were getting.
Rodon signed a six-year deal with the Yankees and many thought they were getting another ace.
But, that has not been the case.
Rodon has been abysmal in his first season in New York.
He capped off a terrible season with one of his worst starts on Friday.
As noted by Talkin’ Baseball, Rodon gave up eight earned runs without recording an out.
He surrendered six hits and walked two batters.

Rodon finishes the season with an ERA of 6.86.
He did not make his season debut until July 7 due to injury.
But, the way he has pitched this year has been unacceptable.
The Yankees coaching staff must work with him in the offseason to fix whatever issues he has.
No team is going to want Rodon or his contract after this season.
So the Yankees are stuck with him.
Rodon has a long resume of successful seasons.
There is no reason to think he cannot get back to pitching at a high level and helping the Yankees get back to the playoffs.
