The Dallas Cowboys will look to bounce back from a tough loss when they host the New England Patriots for Week 4.

Facing Bill Belichick’s team is always a complicated task, and this wasn’t expected to be a normal regular-season matchup.

Sunday’s game will mark Ezekiel Elliott’s return to the franchise, and he should be welcomed with open arms by his former teammates and fans alike.

When asked about a potential surprise for the homecoming, team owner Jerry Jones claimed that he didn’t want to spoil any surprises (via ProFootballTalk).

But he did make his feelings about Elliott clear.

“I know that he was one of the best teammates that I’ve had the privilege of seeing on the Cowboys,” Jones said.

Likewise, he praised Elliott for everything he did during his days with the organization.

Elliott entered the league as a first-round pick and dominated right out of the gate.

Breaking tackles left and right, the Ohio State Buckeye became the franchise’s third all-time leading scorer.

He was also the league’s highest-paid player at his position in a deal that eventually doomed his days with the organization.

The Cowboys released him as soon as all the guaranteed money ran out, and they claimed they didn’t want to insult him by offering him another contract.

Elliott struggled to prove that he was still worthy of a roster spot and an opportunity, and it seemed like he wasn’t going to play this season until the Patriots gave him a chance right before the start of training camp.

He may no longer be the star he once was, but he deserves a warm welcome in Dallas, that’s for sure.
