Ever since the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to make Matt Canada their offensive coordinator in 2021, the team’s fan base hasn’t exactly been impressed with the job that he’s done.
The Steelers offense is off to another rough start this season, averaging just 16.5 points per game and ranking 31st in total rushing yards.
Pittsburgh’s offensive performance in 2023 has some of the fan base wanting the team to already move on from Canada as their offensive coordinator just two games into the season.
Unfortunately for these Steelers fans, they’re unlikely to get their wish granted anytime soon, at least according to the latest from NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.

According to Schultz, it seems like Pittsburgh wants Canada to place more of an emphasis on the development of second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Heading into the 2023 season, the Steelers were hoping that Pickett was going to make some significant steps in his development, but that hasn’t been the case so far.
In two games, Pickett has only completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 454 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, which has amounted to a measly 69.7 passer rating.
To be fair, Pittsburgh and their young quarterback have faced what appears to be two of the top defenses in the NFL in their first two games in the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.
Over the next couple of weeks, Pickett and the Steelers should have a bit of an easier time moving the ball up and down the field, with matchups against the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans.
But if Pittsburgh’s offense does continue to struggle, then the fan base might actually get their wish when it comes to Canada.
