So far, the New Orleans Saints‘ offense is finding its way as they have shown flashes through the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL season though they haven’t quite put it all together yet.

The Saints are incorporating a new quarterback in Derek Carr who has been building chemistry with his weapons in Chris Olave and Michael Thomas.

New Orleans has also been without running back Alvin Kamara who has been serving a three-game suspension.

However, the Saints have been able to win games against the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers on the back of their defense.

New Orleans’ defensive unit has been one of the best in the league and they show no signs of slowing down.

Carl Granderson has been a pleasant surprise along the defensive line for the team and they decided to reward him with an extension via Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The deal is reportedly worth $52 million with about $35 million of it guaranteed, making it one of the biggest contracts for an undrafted free agent in NFL history.

Granderson signed with the Saints back in 2019 and played a rotational role over the next few years before being named a starter in 2023.

In two games, Granderson has already racked up 2.5 sacks, five tackles, seven pressures, and one forced fumble.

New Orleans seems intent on keeping the continuity along their defensive line as they also locked up Cameron Jordan to a new deal earlier in the offseason.

Granderson has been a meaningful piece for the defense and should continue to produce going forward.
